Ooooh, I really like A House of Mirth , Anthem , and Persuasion (it's my favorite Austen novel). Of Lewis' space trilogy (I guess that's what it's called) I've only read Perelandra -- not my favorite of his writings. But maybe if I read the whole series, I might enjoy it better. Hee hee, oh, The Hobbit . It's hard for me to read it without remembering that awful cartoon that was made in the 1970's. And thanks for getting me thinking about MacDonald again; he's one of those author's tucked in the back of my mind that I'd really like to read but never quite get around to.

I couldn't get past the unbelievable condescending misogyny in That Hideous Strength, but I do love The Poisonwood Bible and Jonathon Strange. Three Cups of Tea is on my reading list.

Three Cups of Tea and Anthem are books that I want to read too. Perhaps I'll get to those after I wade through the other six books that I've lined up?

What are you guys reading for book club now? I noticed there is a local book club at the library here, but this month they are reading 1776. Maybs I'll go when they read something that I haven't read in the past six months? It won't be as fun without you!

Fautie the illiterate says:

I only read 10 or 12 books this year. And I have only ever read one ever on your list and that is the Hobbit.

Here are some I read this year:

Massacre at Mountain Meadows

Truman by David McCullough which was excellant.

We Might as Well Win by Johan Bruyneel

A Bio about Abe Lincoln

Lone Survivor about Navy Seal Group in Afghanistan.

Other unimpressive novels that I do not really recall much about.
