love letters

One of my former students left today to return to Korea. Since he didn't get to see me before he left, he wrote me a note on a lovely piece of stationary, upon which were these words:

Love of my life
you are hurt me
you've broken my heart
and now
you leave me
love of my life
can no you see
bring it back
do not take it
away from me
because you
do not know
what it means to me

I thought it was kind of funny.

His note was not actually a love note, though he did call me his "young (looking) cute teacher." My response: young looking?! Really?! Twenty-seven isn't actually young?! This coming from a 26-year old! Bah.

I had plenty of stationary from China that said silly things about love that just weren't translated quite right. I think it's an Asian thing--maybe?

You are in your 27th year. So in a way you are truthful. But you still look like you are 16.
