to add to my wallowing...

Conversation between me and Armenian ESL student:

student: How long have you been married?
me: almost 7 years!
student: NO WAY! How old are you?
me: 27.
student: (gasps) I never would have guessed! I thought maybe 20!
me: I know, most of my students don't think I'm old enough to be their teacher.
student: (peering at me strangely) Well, actually, I think that from far away you look really young. But if I look closer I can see all your wrinkles.

There are no words. Really?

I got told by a Mary Kay lady that I had wrinkles--when I was 23--because she was trying to sell me her product. Yah, thanks. Brush it off! You look great. Looking young now means. . .you'll look young later. People will eat their words when you're 60 and you look 40!

Wrinkles? Are you kidding me? That's ridiculous!

The other day I went to vote for our PHX City Council and the lady looked at me (with the most serious tone) and said, "You have to be 18 to vote!" I was so annoyed! Why on earth would an 8 month pregnant, 15 year old girl care to vote for City Council? She made me show her my drivers license.

Hey old lady, we are heading your way next week. Get ready to party. People always think i am significantly younger than I am. When I was pregnant with Noelle and 25 years old, people routinely thought I was 17. 17!!! I didn't wear my wedding ring, as i was a gardner, so everyone thought I was a pregnant teenager. Embarrassing. Someone once told me that it is a good thing to look so young. Then all your kids' friends will think you are hot, even though you are a mom. I guess I'm not sure anymore what the good part of that situation is, but who cares anyway. I figure when I am 50, people will think I am 30 and that will be great.

Kelly, let me tell you, you still look like you are about 16-18 most days. Well maybe 20.
